Six bedrooms, eleven hectares of olive grove, and one family at a time. Taken by the week, April through October.
The house
It was a working olive farm for two hundred years before it was anything else.
The Marchetti family bought the masseria in 2016 with a collapsed roof over the east wing and four hundred trees that hadn't been pruned in a decade. The restoration took three years and used the same limestone, quarried eleven kilometres inland at Fasano.
Nothing was opened up. The rooms are the rooms the farm had — thick walls, small windows, cool in August. What was added is honest about being new: a steel-framed kitchen, one glass wall onto the courtyard, and a pool set into the old threshing floor.
The grove still works. Four hundred and twelve trees, harvested each November by the same family from Conversano, pressed at the frantoio in town. Guests staying in October can watch it start.
We let the house whole and never split it. There is no reception, no staff living on site, and no one will knock on your door. Giulia comes at nine to clean and leaves by eleven.

The house is let whole, by the week, changeover on Saturdays. Rates include the house, the pool, linen, a welcome shop, and Giulia every weekday morning. They do not include a cook — though we will find you one.

The village
Polignano is
eight minutes down.
A cliff town with a beach in a ravine, too many people in August and nobody at all in April. There is a good fish restaurant, three bad ones, and a bar in the old town that does the best coffee for forty kilometres.
Monopoli for the Tuesday market. Alberobello for the trulli, if you must — go at eight, leave by ten. Ostuni is worth the forty minutes. The best beach is not in any of these places and we will tell you where it is when you arrive.
